The Overberg BMX Club is a community initiative spearheaded by Club Chairman Rickus Muller, an experience BMX racer and lover of the sport. Work on the track began in early 2019 with the help of, and contributions by, a multitude of local businesses. It is hoped that construction of the track will be completed by December 2019. More support in the form of donations and funding will ensure this dream becomes a reality.
The track is situated at the Hermanus Sports Club behind the Hermanus High School and Race Days are held on the first Sunday of each month. The first race day took place on Sunday, 5 May and attracted locals as well as out-of-towners. Each successive race day has attracted more entrants and supporters cheering on the riders.
The Club levies a R120 (valid for 2020) membership fee, which allows members to use the track at anytime (if it is open). Members pay a R30 race day fee, while non-members pay a R50 race day fee. Entrants may use mountain bikes. Helmets are compulsory.
Overberg BMX is affiliated with Cape Winelands Cycling and BMX South Africa.
